Businessmanagement employs a variety of databases for different functionalities- CRM, Business Intelligence, ERP - and from different suppliers. As a result, they operate accordingto different standards. For a company to ensure efficient data flow betweenthe various databases, a system of data collection, error-free conversion and rapidtransfer to the target database is required With the migrator ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tool, thebenefits of the individual applications are multiplied, increasing competitivenesssignificantly. The migrator is aback-end application that realizes all these operations in real-time. It isalso suitable for constructing internal data warehouses simultaneouslyfed by a variety of data sources, and for making the information available to severaltarget databases - also in real-time. migratorcan be integrated with any application quickly and easily, and can often enableintegration between a variety of applications.

Who should have the migrator solution?

migratorallows companies who no longer want to use data in isolated applications to enabledata integration at company level.

migrator is an ETL tool that can manage avariety of data sources and transform the collected data according tothe needs of various target databases, while ensuring it is stored in the appropriateformat. migrator integrates existing applications, and it makes theintegration of additional or new applications easier.

The place of migrator in the company data management system

migrator™can access all common data sources viastandard protocols.

migrator converts data obtained from various datasources to the data structure of the target database, but transformationcan also follow different logic according to the requirements of a specifictask. Data quality during collectionand transformation is checked by a variety of control algorithms.

Datatransfer and storage in target databases are executed using real-timeintegration services and file systems of known format, but the data may also be sent to specifiedaddresses as an e-mail

THE CORE FUNCTIONALITY OF migrator

Independence from database management systems

Thissolution can be adapted to any database management system for complete integrationof heterogeneous company IT systems.

Management of data stored outsidethe database

Theapplication supports the management of data stored outside the database, eitheras a data source or as an output. The migrator can download, process andforward data sources or outputs as Excel tables, text or XML files.

Real-time data integration and conversion

Datastructured in line with internal and external requirements is availablereal-time. The migrator manages known database standards, using the data as itssource before converting it to a structure suitable for target databases.

Individual transformations

Transformationsthat are different from requests in the existing database can also be executedbased on optionally defined attributes. This may be necessary due to businessconsiderations or the requirements of the third party receiving the data.

Timed tasks - automatic uploading

A schedulerensures target databases are automatically updated and the correctly structuredinformation can be automatically sent to the third-party addressee.

Data quality

The migratorchecks the extracted data for complexity and accuracy, ensuring it is of thenecessary quality for users. Deviations may be collected in error lists, andduplicates may also be set to merge. The system automatically corrects errorsin data content and format.

Forwarding data to internal and external databases or addresses

Data is forwardedvia real-time integration services (RMI, RPC, WebService, DataQueue and JavaMessaging Service). The target of the transfer may be either an internal orexternal database (DB2, Oracle, MSSQL, SyBase, SAP MaxDB, FireBird, PostgreSQL,MySQL, Derby,Access, etc.), and/or local or remote file systems (Excel, XML or Plan textfiles), but the data may also be sent via e-mail.

BUSINESS BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF migrator

EXECUTIVE BENEFITS

  • Legacy IT investments are not lost;
  • Information for business decisions is available instantly;
  • Response time between the company, partners and customers is reduced.

BUSINESS BENEFITS

  • Continued use of other, established applications;
  • No data is lost, the system continually checks the quality of data;
  • Rapid internal data flow;
  • Target databases are automatically updated by a background scheduler.

BENEFITS AT IT MANAGEMENT LEVEL

  • Repetition of manual tasks can be avoided by automated processes, saving time and reducing errors;
  • The migrator can be integrated easily with existing systems, no further development is needed as the application has direct access to the required data;
  • Several different systems can communicate simultaneously via the migrator;
  • New applications can be easily integrated into the company IT system.

Rapid dataexchange with the migrator

  1. Information requirement. Information on customers, active services and invoices is presented on both company and customer service portals. The current data is collected in a clearly defined structure and format from the relevant back-end systems (ERP, CRM), before being converted and forwarded to the portal.
  2. Data collection. The migrator collects and reads data from the customer database (CRM), from technical databases and from the financial system (ERP) in accordance with set parameters and at a specified time or when triggered by a particular event.
  3. Data transformation. Collected and read data is converted by the migrator to the required data structure, and if necessary, stored in its own database. During transformation, the migrator checks the data, creates an error list according to requirements, and automatically corrects errors in the format or content of the data.
  4. Data forwarding and data storage. The data produced in the requested structure and format are loaded by the migrator into the portal system's database. From this moment on, the data is accessible to customers and to customer service teams. In addition, the migrator also sends e-mail notifications to specified addresses, making information available online and without delay.

Technicalbackground

The migratoroffers a variety of options for for data management and movement, such as SQL(with the help of JDBC or ODBC). The system supports a number of communicationprotocols, including FTP, SOAP and RMI. The data sources can be SQL, Oracle,DB2, Excel, flat-files or file systems, but this list is far from complete.
